Kanuka

An anti-inflammatory wonder honey

Kanuka honey has a similar taste to the more ‘earthy’ Mānuka honey, but is slightly lighter and more floral. Kanuka flowers are bunched/fluffy in appearance and creamy coloured compared to the arctic white flower of the Mānuka making it easy to identify.

‘Kanuka is Mānuka honeys’ synergistic partner.

Mānuka is higher in antibacterial properties, while Kanuka is higher in anti-inflammatory properties. Most Mānuka will generally have a small percentage of Kanuka. As the Mānuka grades increase (10+ and over) Mānuka will become the more dominant honey.

Understanding the ratios is important as Kanuka research indicates that Kanuka has high levels of hydrogen peroxide and unique anti-inflammatory properties. This research suggests it may be an effective treatment for skin conditions such as rosacea, cold sores, and actinic keratosis.
